Frances “Fran” Ripley 96, of Shelbyville, Illinois died on November 19, 2013 at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Illinois.

She was born on November 23, 1916, the daughter of Lee and Margaret Smith Lewis. She married Kenneth Morrison in December of 1934 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1945. She married Acel Ripley on February l4, 1947. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2001.

Mrs. Ripley was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jemima Campbell of Moweaqua, IL, Delcie Mentz and a brother Billie Lewis of Shelbyville. A sister-in-law survives, Mrs. Lydia Lewis.

Two daughters survive their mother, Karen Camfield and husband Ronnie of rural Gays, Illinois and Evelyn Lash and husband Arlen of Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Surviving are 7 grandchildren and spouses, Lauri Clark and Brad of Decatur, Il., Blake Camfield and Raynette of Shelbyville, Kari Boyd and Ken of Warrensburg, Lana Croy and Jeff of Mattoon, and Scott Camfield and Jenny, of Mattoon, Todd Lash and Chandra of Chicago, and Erin Lash and wife Lisa of St. Peters, Missouri. Mrs. Ripley also had l5 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Great grandchildren are Maddie and Mason Clark, Ace Camfield and Racheal Boyer, Holden and Collin Boyd, Grace and Ryan Croy and Allie Adair, Emma, Tyson, and Bode Lash, Chandler and Sydney Camfield, and Izzy Rio Lash.

And then there were three great, great grandchildren. Cooper and Stella Adair and Austin Boyer.

Frances was an active life-long resident of Shelbyville in her 96 years. She was employed by Sta-Rite, Platt’s Jewelry, Dr. Larson and finally retired after working l4 years for the Corner Drug.

She was also a very active volunteer and in 2013 was listed as Shelby County’s volunteer with the most years of recorded volunteer service of 28 years. She was a manager of the Senior Citizen’s Thrift Shop for 35 years plus, a member of the 4th Street United Methodist Church where she was pianist and organist for more than 35 years, a certified Conference Lay speaker for 25 years, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Shelbyville Chapter 69 and the Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion.

Frances loved people and enjoyed her time spent with being active as long as that was possible. She leaves behind a close friend, a special caretaker which is her little white poodle, Frazier, who was always at her side and is now missing his special friend.

Funeral services will be held at the 4th Street United Methodist Church, Shelbyville, IL, on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 1:30 pm. with Rev. Howard Sallee officiating. Visitation will be at the Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL from l0:00 to 11:30 on Saturday, November 23, 2013 also. Interment will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville following the service. Memorials can be made to the 4th Street United Methodist Church or to a memorial of your choice.
