Francis A Yenck

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville with Father Don Wolford officiating. Visitation from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana, Illinois with military rites by Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the American Red Cross or Shelby County Humane Society.
Mr. Yenck was born on July 11, 1910 in Pana, Illinois, the son of Frank A. and Mary McKenna Yenck. He attended Pana Sacred Heart School and graduated from Pana Twp. High School in the Class of 1929. He continued his education at the University of Notre Dame, graduating in 1935. He was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II, serving in the 82nd Airborne Infantry. He worked in sales promotion for a trucking company in Chicago. Mr. Yenck was a friend and promoter of the Illinois High School Association from its formative years to present time. He was instrumental in helping high school students obtain college scholarships in the areas that he lived. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 and Moose Lodge # 1294 all of Shelbyville, Pana Elks Lodge for over 50 years and was an honorary member of the Traffic Club of Oak Brook, Illinois. He married Madalene Stephenson on October 4, 1945 in Taylorville. She died on September 24, 1999.
Surviving are many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Madalene; and sister, Mary Helen Britton.
