Fred L. Smith , 84, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital, Shelbyville, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Glenwood Cemetery (Blyman Addition), Shelbyville, IL with Gary Crowder officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the family in care of Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565. A celebration of life following the graveside service will be held at the Shelby County Senior Center in Forest Park.

Fred was born on June 9, 1938, in Mode, IL, the son of William Lewis and Edna Lorine (Daniels) Smith. He attended school in Fancher, IL. Fred married Edna Pearl Welton on December 4, 1986. He worked for the City of Shelbyville in the Sewer Department for many years. Fred enjoyed going mushroom hunting and was a former member of the Eagles Lodge #4395 in Shelbyville.

Fred is survived by his wife, Edna; sons, Ronnie Smith of Shelbyville, IL, and Scott Smith (Kate) of Loami, IL; daughters, Tammy Giberson (Mike) of Taylorville, IL, and Brenda Cook (Les) of Windsor, IL; sisters, Wilma White of Beecher City, IL and Leta Mae Freeman (Sonny) of Kankakee, IL; five grandchildren, Lacey Franklin (Shawn) of Taylorville, IL, Maverick Welton of Shelbyville, IL, and Kayla, Brittany, and Aiden Smith all of Loami, IL; and one great grandson, Dyson Welton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sherrie Lynn Welton; sister, Goldie Sarver; and brothers, Robert O. Smith and Billie Joe Smith.
