Gary J Rhodes

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Greg Breeden officiating. Visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday with Masonic rites at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery, in Fayette County, IL. Memorials may be given to the family.
Gary was born on November 13, 1944 in Fayette County, IL the son of Jake and Rene Grubaugh Rhodes. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1962. He worked for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company for 32 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid bird hunter. Gary was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 of Shelbyville. He married Karen Dagen on November 14, 1970 in Westervelt, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Karen; sons, Mike Rhodes and wife Cindy and Jason Rhodes and wife Theresa all of Shelbyville; daughter, Jennifer Griffith and husband Jason of Shelbyville; brother, George Rhodes and wife Pat of Effingham; sister, Betty Nohren of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Amanda and Delaney Rhodes, Connor and Gavan Rhodes, and Alexandria and Kailee Griffith; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Rene Rhodes; and one brother, Dean Rhodes.
