Gary W. Howard

Gary Wayne Howard , 64, of Findlay, IL, passed away at   9:15 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024, in his home with his wife, two sons, and two dogs at his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2024, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Tim Uphoff officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2024, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to ECHO EMS or DeWitt EMS.

Gary was born on August 11, 1960, in Lancaster, CA, the son of Mordecai Nicholas and Leona (Fox) Howard.  He graduated from Quartz Hill High School in California.  Gary was a lifelong paramedic and firefighter, serving as Captain with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. He married Patty R. Thompson on May 15, 2005, in Lancaster, CA. Gary was an avid Chicago Bears fan and was always in front of the television when the Bears were playing.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Patty; sons, Nicholas Howard and Kevin Howard; sister-in-law, Lucy (Adam) Craycroft; brothers-in-law, Robert Thompson and Kevin Lane; and father-in-law, Dwight Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Joyce Thompson; and sister-in-law, Melissa Lane.
