Gary W. Williams, 68, of rural Shelbyville, IL, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, in his home surrounded by family. 

He was a loving, amazing, and wonderful son, brother, husband, daddy, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend. 

Gary was born on November 27, 1956, in Decatur, IL, to Virgil and Donna (Reynolds) Williams. He married Judy L. Hood on June 5, 1976, and they had two very spoiled daughters. He served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, VA. He recently retired from Sullivan Mechanical Contractors after 33 years. Gary always took care of everyone around him. As he would say, “I can fix anything, but the crack of dawn and a broken heart.” He loved his family and his RZR’s. He was an active member of RZR’s of Illinois. 

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy; his daughters, Camilla Williams (Shawn Morell) of Findlay, IL, and Jessica Scribner (Johnny) of Elwin, IL; eight grandchildren, Tyson (Halie), Carmine, Kerigan, Adriana, Claire, Pacyn, Addisynn, and Knox; 1 great-granddaughter, Ellianna; three sisters, Patricia Pieske (Mark) of Forsyth, IL, Pamela Ardnt (George) of Decatur, IL, and Ginny Brocksmith (Bill) of Argenta, IL; and several nieces, nephews and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and in-laws, Charles and Clara Hood. 

Per Gary’s wishes, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the family in care of Judy Williams and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
