Gaylord L Ragan

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Dan Seibert officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Shelby County Honor Guard or the American Cancer Society.
Gaylord was born on April 30, 1919 in rural Clarksburg, IL, the son of Merritt E. and Carrie Dell Russell Ragan. He was an Army Air Force veteran of WW II, where he was an airplane mechanic. Gaylord worked on rural telephone lines, farmed and raised dairy cattle. He was a member of VFW Post #4829 in Shelbyville, IL.
He is survived by his sister, Freda Stanger of Independence, MO; sister-in-law, Goldie Ragan of Shelbyville, IL; four nephews; and six nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Noble, Ervil and Gleason Ragan; sisters, Dorothy Rothrock, Alberta Ragan and Gladys Price; nephew, Jim Rothrock; and niece, Susan Hightower.
