Geneva M. Buesking, 93, of Strasburg, IL, died at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2014 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Steven Becker and Rev. Gary Fortkamp officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday and one hour before services Saturday both in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to E.A.S.T.E.R. Program in Effingham, IL, Catholic Charities in Effingham, IL, Trinity Lutheran School in Stewardson, IL or donor’s choice.

Geneva was born on March 15, 1921 in Stewardson, IL, the daughter of George D. and Lena C. Knop Mechling. She graduated from Stewardson High School in the Class of 1939. Geneva began working for The Addison Children’s Home in Addison, IL and later worked for Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou, Inc. in Shelbyville, IL. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg, IL, where she was a choir member, Sunday school teacher and member of the Ladies Aid Society. Geneva was also an instructor in the E.A.S.T.E.R. Program in Effingham, IL. She married Kenneth D. Buesking on January 9, 1944 in Stewardson, IL. He died on December 10, 2000.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Buesking and wife Mary Ellen of Danville, IL; daughter, Sharon Tate and husband Donald of Stewardson, IL; four grandchildren, Christine Slifer and husband Brad of Mode, IL, Jennifer Dorfler and husband James of Ankeny, IA, Katherine Mette and husband Mark of Effingham, IL and Joe Buesking and wife Lauren of Indianapolis, IN; and great grandchildren, Dylan Slifer, Allison Dorfler, Derek Slifer, Jack Dorfler, Kendal Mette, Brayden Mette and Kolton Mette.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Kenneth.
