Genevieve C Buesking

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Cemetery Fund or Strasburg Veterans Memorial. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.
Mrs. Buesking was born on April 14, 1916 in Shelby County, Illinois, the oldest child of Virgil L. and Edna Allen Collins. She was a graduate of Strasburg High School in 1935, Eastern Illinois State Teacher’s College in 1938 and a filing degree from Universal Business Institute of Kansas City. On December 30, 1945, she was joined in marriage to Curtis Buesking. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1998.
She was a dedicated teacher who touched many lives in her 38 years of teaching in Shelby County. Genevieve was known for her encouragement and love of doing volunteer work in her church and community. She was a member of the Shelby Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Shelby Home Extension, American Legion Auxiliary 289, life member of N.E.A., I.E.A., Retired Teachers Association, St. Paul’s Ladies Aid and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg.
Survivors include sisters, Daisy (Herbert) Gulick and Irma Wright both of Decatur and Betty Ann (Antoni) Skielnik of Mt. Pulaski; brother, Herbert (Josephine) Collins of Strasburg; several nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis; sisters, Thelma Campbell and Marie Sommerville; and brother-in-law, Robert Campbell.
Her inspiration and manner will be greatly missed by family and friends.
