George Franklin Bolinger, 82, of Shelbyville, died at 12:18 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2011 in Shelby Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 in the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville with Rev. Lee Lovett officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday with Masonic rites by Jackson Masonic Lodge at 8:00 p.m. in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation will also be from 11:00 a.m. -1:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Family graveside services will be held Saturday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Heifer Project, Imagine No Malaria Project or Habitat for Humanity in Shelby County.

Mr. Bolinger was born on August 20, 1928 in Shelbyville, Illinois, the son of George Noel and Virginia Dove Bolinger. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1946 and studied business at the University of Illinois. He married Winona Shuff on January 11, 1947.

George was a past-president of Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou, Inc. and G.B. Sales both in Shelbyville. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville, where he and his wife Nonie were actively involved with the Food Pantry, 3rd & 4th Grade Sunday School Class, Community Thanksgiving Dinner and were former leaders of the High School Sunday School Class and Youth Group. George was president of the Administrative Board of the church and a member of the United Methodist Men. He served the former Central Illinois Conference and current Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church as past-lay leader and past-president of the United Methodist Men. George and Nonie also served as delegates for the Annual Conference and General Conference of the United Methodist Church. He currently was the Church Relations Committee Chairman for Habitat for Humanity in Shelby County. George was a 60 year member of Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 of Shelbyville and a member of Ansar Shrine and Royal Arch Masons. He served his community as past-president of the Greater Shelbyville Chamber of Commerce and as past-Scout Master of Shelbyville Boy Scout Troup #51.

Surviving are his wife, Nonie; sons, G. James Bolinger of Findlay, John F. Bolinger and wife Tammie of Shelbyville and Charles W. Bolinger and wife Christine of Shelbyville; daughters, Virginia Finks and husband Mason of Aurora, CO, Georgianna Haney and husband David of Rushville, IL and Margaret Schlosser and husband David of Honolulu, HI; brother, Robert Bolinger and wife Lila of Shelbyville; brothers-in-law, Andy Craig of Shelbyville, Robert Shuff and wife Jane of Columbus, IN, and Charles Shuff and wife Irma of Shelbyville; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan Craig; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Bolinger.
