Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville with Father Don Wolford officiating. Howe & Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to his wife, Joan Koester.
Mr. Koester was born on March 13, 1941 in Blue Island, Illinois, the son of Llowellyn Purshing and Mary E. Barr Koester. He was a retired auto mechanic and locally worked for the Daily Union in Shelbyville. He married Joan L. Ross on June 23, 1989.
Surviving are his wife, Joan of Shelbyville; sons, Gary Koester and wife Chris of Kankakee and Lee Koester and wife Bess of Springfield; daughters, Lynne Koester of Cape Gerardo, MO and Shannon Taylor and husband Luke of Springfield; step-daughter, Jennifer Balediata and husband Mark of Blue Bell, PA; sisters, Karen Hill and husband Jerry of Tinley Park, Denise Daviau and husband Henry of Tinley Park, Lloriann Cornwell and husband Bart of Peotone and Tammy Ross and husband John of Romeoville; eight grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
