Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Casual attire is requested. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Dialysis Center or to the family.
Gerald was born on September 7, 1946 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Samuel Everett “Sam” and Minerva Mathilda (Stremming) McNeese. He graduated from Findlay High School the Class of 1964 and then served in the United States Army. Gerald was a break operator at GSI in Assumption, IL, retiring in 2008. Gerald enjoyed playing golf, bowling, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He married Cheryl L. Ground on November 9, 1968 and they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Shelbyville; sons, Todd McNeese (Kara) of Stewardson, IL, and Tyson McNeese (Tammie), of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Everett McNeese (Juanita) of Washington, IL; sister, Doris Robertson of Westervelt, IL; and three grandchildren, Thai, Dax, and Kaelyn McNeese.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Travis McNeese; brother, Gaylord “Ed” McNeese; sister-in-law, Helen McNeese; and brother-in-law, Bobby Robertson.
