Gertrude F Biehler

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Memorials may be given in Gertrude’s name to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1201 N. Chestnut St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.
Mrs. Biehler was born on October 4, 1910 in Richland Township, Shelby County, Illinois, to Charles L. and Matilda L. (Fields) Krile. Gertrude and her siblings were direct descendants of brothers, Joseph and Ruben Fields, who were members of the original Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1804. She married Lester L. Biehler on Easter Sunday, April 25, 1943 at Grace Lutheran Church in Strasburg, Illinois. Gertrude lived all of her married life in Shelbyville, Illinois, until the last few years in Peoria and Galesburg near her daughter, Jane. She worked at Dillow Drugstore in Shelbyville for many years and was active in her church, Holy Cross Lutheran in Shelbyville. She was also a member of Redeemer Lutheran in Peoria while residing there. She and Lester spent their 65 years together until the end, even sharing a room at Seminary Manor Nursing Home for the last one and a half years.
Surviving are her husband, Lester; two daughters, Judith A. Logan and husband Darrell of Holland, Nebraska and Jane A. Peterson and husband Stephen of Dahinda, Illinois; four grandchildren, Scott Logan and wife Amy of Firth, Nebraska, Kimberly (Peterson) Hagan and husband Robert of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Nikki (Logan) Knudsen and husband Jon of Roca, Nebraska and Marc Peterson and fiancée Starr Fernandez of Chicago, Illinois; and five great grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah Logan and Alexa, Tyler and Jayden Knudsen all of Nebraska. Gertrude was affectionately known as “Grandma Dee” to all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two older brothers, Fred and Elmer Krile of Windsor, Illinois and one older sister, Emma Schrimpf of Strasburg, Illinois.
