Gladys L Chockley

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Lee Lovett officiating. Visitation from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Food Pantry of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville.
Mrs. Chockley was born on September 2, 1918 in Beardstown, IL. She was a beautician, homemaker and loving mother. Gladys was also a noted Shelby County artist and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading and sewing. She married W. Dean Chockley on October 10, 1937. He died on February 16, 1995.
Surviving are her son, Thomas Chockley and wife Babs Buttress Chockley of Plainfield, IL; daughter, Carol Dawdy and husband Ben of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Heather Steinmeyer, Todd Chockley, Elaine Gregg Hardy, Krista Herman, Kevin Dawdy, Simon Buttress, Christian Buttress and Wolfgang Buttress; and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; son-in-law, Byron Gregg; and grandson, Elijah Hardy.
