Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation one hour before services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
Gladys was born on April 28, 1921 in Friendsville, Maryland, the daughter of George and Iva Featherman Fike. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II, serving in the WAVES. She worked for Bell & Howell and later for DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago as a proofreader. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Friendsville, MD. Gladys loved to paint and read. She married Mitchell Betley in 1945 in Norfolk, VA.
Surviving are her three children, Brian (Okhui) Betley of Chicago, IL, Rosemary (Tom) Andrews of Antioch, IL and Donna Collett of Shelbyville; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Ruth and Bernice.
