Glen Edward McCabe, 78, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 11:26 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2025, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL. 

Glen’s family will gather in April at Jordan Cemetery, near Shelbyville, for a graveside service. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Lake Shelbyville Fish Habitat Alliance and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Glen was born on December 27, 1946, in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Albert Elmer and Nadine Frances (Clay) McCabe. He attended Shelbyville High School and then served in the US Navy, during the Vietnam War, as a jet mechanic. Glen married Pamela J. “Pam” Behnke on July 21, 1967, in Shelbyville, IL. Glen worked as a Civil Engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville, retiring in 1997. While working for the Corps, he led the development and construction of the high-water boat ramps on Lake Shelbyville. In his retirement, Glen served as a Deputy Sheriff for Fremont County in Colorado. He enjoyed watching old western movies and television shows and cherished spending time with his wife, Pam, before her passing on June 19, 2019.

Glen is survived by his sons, Jeremy E. McCabe of Casper, WY and Jason E. McCabe (Danica) of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Danny McCabe (Dulce) of Houston, TX; sisters, Carla Haas (David) of Louisville, KY and Marla Squires (Charles) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Cailee Drone (Shane), Colton McCabe, Kayla McCabe, and Jaylin McCabe; great grandchildren, Preston Davis, Kylie McCabe, Jazzlyn Lowe, Kaiser Lowe, Joshua Drone, and Kaysen McCabe; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pamela J. McCabe; sister-in-law, Kay McCabe; and twin grandsons, Kyler and Tyler McCabe.
