It is nearly impossible to find the right words to say in order to convey the true impact Glenna had on the lives of those around her. She was a golden ray of sunshine, able to light up any room she entered. Glenna was born on July 24, 1944 in rural Cowden, IL, the daughter of Robert and Faye (Lewis) Armstrong. She graduated from Cowden Herrick High School, received her Associates degree at SIU, Bachelor’s degree in social work at St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana, then went on to earn her Master’s degree in gerontology at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Although she didn’t receive her later education until after she had already started raising 3 boys, once she hit the ground running she rose to the top. She had many successful achievements, and was able to positively assist the lives of many residents and their families throughout her career in long term care support services. Whether it was Lincolnland Home Care, RFMS, The Shelbyville Manor, or one of the many other facilities she played an active role in, she was doing an incredible job spreading positivity and joy, and always making sure the care of the resident was in best interest. Glenna wore many hats throughout her life, at work and home, recently completely and publishing her first children’s book. She was an active member of the board with RFMS, was part of the Cowden Library Board, volunteered as an usher at the Effingham Performance Center, and substitute taught for Cowden-Herrick schools. She was a lifelong member at Cowden United Methodist Church. Glenna was also a member of EWOT and loved everything they’ve accomplished in the Effingham Community. She loved gardening and was an avid fan of the monarch butterflies that migrate through every year, leaving their young behind for her to watch grow and develop. She was very passionate about “Wells for Wellness.” She also loved being a grandma and always had a grandkid or two stuck by her side. She married Robert L. Taylor on August 15, 1964 in Decatur, IL, and he preceded her in death on January 22, 2020.

Glenna is survived by her three sons, David Taylor, Stephen Taylor (Rosie Lange) and Timothy Taylor (Elizabeth) all of Beecher City; four grandchildren, Hannah Taylor, Noah Taylor (Gracie), Zia Taylor and Isaac Taylor; and sisters, Marian Lorton (Brad) of Riverside, IL, Jessie Polley (Eddie) of Decatur, IL, and Eileen McElroy (Bob) of Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; grandson, Dylan Taylor; brothers, Richard, Wayne, Russell, Bill, Leo, Forrest and Max Armstrong; and sisters, Betty Armstrong, Joan Cox, Maude Baldwin and Pat Bialeschki.
