Guy E Wilcox

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Elder Christine Ober officiating. Visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Disabled American Veterans or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Mr. Wilcox was born on November 21, 1917 in Olin, Iowa, the son of Barney O. and Rue Pearl Whittington Wilcox. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and a member of V.F.W. Post #4829 of Shelbyville. He was a welder for the Mt. Vernon Car Shop, Oliver Corporation of Shelbyville and then Specialized Products in Taylorville until his retirement. Guy was the Presiding Elder of the Community of Christ Church of Pana for many years. He married Veralee Burkett on March 30, 1941.
Surviving are his wife, Veralee Wilcox; son, Glenn Wilcox and wife Madeline of Mode; daughter, Carolynn Wilcox of Shelbyville; sister, Ruie Harp and husband James of Bethalto; eight grandchildren, Todd Wilcox, Kyle Wilcox, Mike Wilcox, Chad Wilcox, Billy Shewmake, Johnny Carter, Cherri Ruff and Diane Myers; eleven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Gerald, Glen and Lowell Wilcox and one in infancy; sister, Pauline Donovan; and one great grandchild.
