Harold A Lawson
(February 25, 1948 – July 18, 2020)
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Bauerle officiating and flag presentation by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Peggy Sue Lawson for final expenses. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.
Harold was born on February 25, 1948 in Lumberton, NC, the son of Harold A., Jr. and Sarah Frances (Ivy) Lawson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea during the Vietnam War. Harold was a police officer in Shreveport, LA and retired as a Captain in 1995. He married Peggy Sue Armer on December 12, 1999. In 2011, Harold and Peggy moved to Shelbyville, where he worked as a Corrections Officer for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Shelbyville. Harold loved God and his country. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Harold is survived by his wife, Peggy Sue of Shelbyville; daughter, Amy Lawson of Kirby, AR; sons, Chris Armer (Sarah) of Marietta, GA and Chad Hanson (Apryl) of Stedman, NC; brother, James Lawson (Mary) of Benton, LA; and nine grandchildren, Lindsey Smith, Grace Armer, Carter Hanson, Leah Armer, Jana Armer, Brynlee Hanson, Calvin Armer, Callen Hanson, and Clayton Hanson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold A. Lawson, Jr.; mother, Sarah Francis Avery; and step-father, Allen Stanley Avery.
