Harold Glen Allen, 85, of Witt, IL, formerly of Findlay, IL, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 in Pana Community Hospital, Pana, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Kurt Feneley officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Beacon of Hope Free Methodist Church in Pana, Findlay Christian Church or the University of Illinois Extension to promote farm safety.

Harold was born on February 10, 1928 in Shelby Co., IL, the son of Elgar Glen and Ida Mae Keown Allen. He graduated from Findlay High School in the Class of 1945 and served in the U. S. Army from 1946-1947. Harold farmed in the Findlay area until his retirement. He also did custom spraying, worked as a mechanic for M. J. Wilson Auto Company in Shelbyville and drove a bus for the Findlay Schools. He was a member of Beacon of Hope Free Methodist Church in Pana, IL. He married Norma U. Wirey on July 10, 1949. She died on November 22, 1999. He married Shirley M. Ferry Ruther on February 2, 2010 in Pana, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Witt, IL; step-son, James Henry Ruther of Witt, IL; step-daughters, Laura Mills (Ed) of Hillsboro, IL and Ann Farley of Washington; brother, Kenneth Allen (Dara) of Millstadt, IL; sisters, Pauline Boehm (Glen) of Westervelt, IL and Betty Lambdin (John) of Sullivan, IL; sister-in-law, Ann Allen of Phoenix, AZ; five step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Norma; and brothers, Bob Allen and Paul Edward Allen.
