Harold T. Small , 85, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 9:57 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2023 in HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2023 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Gary Crowder officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard.  Memorials may be given to the Parkinson’s Foundation or American Diabetes Association.

Harold was born on August 16, 1937 in Mattoon, IL, the son of Homer T. and Edith Marie (Kessel) Small.  He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1955.  He married Wilma Geniece Bieber on August 19, 1961.  Harold served in the Army Reserves.  Harold was also a dedicated employee at Mueller Company for over 38 years.  He spent most of his time there working in the iron and brass foundries and retired as a foreman in 1996. Harold loved to spend time outdoors.  He enjoyed hunting and mushroom hunting.  He was an avid gardener and planted a sizable garden filled with many vegetables, mostly tomatoes.  He also spent time competing in bowling leagues and never missed an opportunity to play cards.  Harold also had a passion for cooking and was famous for his holiday hams and homemade vegetable soup.  He loved spending time with his family.

He leaves behind his wife, Wilma; daughters, Leslie Auten (Brad) of Monticello, IL and Stephanie Williams (John Paul) of Mt. Zion, IL; and  three grandchildren; Adam Auten  of San Jose, CA, Anna Auten of LaCrosse, WI, and Chloe Williams of Mt. Zion, IL

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Edith Joanne McGahey (Jack).
