Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Baseball and Softball Complex at Forest Park.
Harriett was born on August 28, 1930 in Birmingham, Michigan, the daughter of Charles S. and Gertrude F. Ellis Devitt. She was an antique dealer and had a booth at B & J Antique Mall in Sullivan, IL. Harriett enjoyed attending auctions and sales. She previously worked for Motorola in Scottsdale, AZ.
She is survived by her four sons, John Towne of Shelbyville, Jeffrey Towne of Honolulu, Hawaii, Jerry Towne of Lakeside, Arizona and Joseph Towne of Dallas, Texas; three brothers, James Devitt of Heartland, Michigan, Thomas Devitt of San Antonio, Texas and Charles Devitt of Bradford, Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Towne; and one sister, Virla Banks.
