Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2016 in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Dollville, IL with Pastor Steve Nance officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday in the church. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, near Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Dollville, IL.
Harry was born on March 28, 1921 in Tower Hill, IL, the son of James H. and Gertrude B. (Mose) Lewey. He was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II, serving in the 836th Engineer Aviation Battalion in the Pacific Theatre. Harry was a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers (I.U.O.E.) Local 965 of Springfield, IL. He also worked on his farm and raised Angus cattle. Harry was a member of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Dollville, IL, I.U.O.E. Local 965 of Springfield, IL and V.F.W. Post 4431 of Pana, IL. He enjoyed horses, toys, camping and traveling. He married Juanita F. Shanholtzer on February 6, 1946. She died on July 6, 2002.
He is survived by his daughter, Jan L. Belleau of Beecher City, IL; granddaughters, Kourtney N. and Danielle L. Drummond both of Nashville, TN; grandson, Ryan K. Belleau and wife Christine of Scott AFB; and twin great granddaughters, Cora A. and Evelyn G. Belleau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gertrude; wife, Juanita; daughter, Karen A. Drummond; brothers, Jim and Clifford Lewey; and sisters, Esther Wade, Marguerite Sisk, Noreen Miller and Zelma Davis.
