Harry Paul Lumpp, 91, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 in his residence at the Villas of Holly Brook in Shelbyville, IL, with his family at his side.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2014 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Jim McClarey officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville.

Harry was born on September 21, 1922 in Pickaway Twp., near Findlay, IL, the son of Edward and Nannie Pogue Lumpp. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1940. Harry was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II, serving with the 52nd Combat Engineer Battalion in the South Pacific from 1942-1946. He returned from the service and worked for Band Box Cleaners, A & P Tea Co., Johnston’s Supermarket and retired from the Shelby Electric Cooperative in 1987. Harry was an avid golfer for many years and worked at the Eagle Creek Golf Course during his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, V.F.W. Post #4829 and the Shelby Country Club all in Shelbyville. Harry married Audrey Eileene Phegley on November 12, 1949. She died on November 27, 2013.

He is survived by his son, Gary Lumpp (Regina) of Shelbyville, IL; daughters, Julie A. McClain (Bob) of Sullivan, IL and Lisa D. McClarey (Jim) of Pekin, IL; brother, Eugene “Gene” Lumpp of Shelbyville, IL; brother-in-law, Lloyd Wright of Findlay, IL; sister-in-law, Kate Phegley of Shelbyville, IL; three grandchildren, Rachel and Eric McClarey and Casey McClain; eight step-grandchildren, Clayton Kirksey, Heather Townsend (Allen), Sean Kirksey (Erica Hubbartt), Leslie Miller (Tim), Chad Kirksey (Jennifer Bucy), Melissa Clark (Aaron), Bobbie Jo Fritz (John) and Robyn Perry (Nick); fourteen step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eileene; and sister, Nita Wright.
