Helen E Telgmann

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Steven Becker and Rev. Gary Fortkamp officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday and one hour before service time Tuesday both in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to Worship for Shut-ins, Trinity Lutheran School, Stewardson, IL or Donor’s Choice. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Strasburg, IL.

Helen was born on September 1, 1930 in Effingham County, Lucas Township, the daughter of Frank Jacob and Caroline Kathern Traub Miller. She was baptized on September 21, 1930 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bible Gove, IL, by the Rev. Nall. She attended St. John’s Lutheran Grade School. She received the Rite of Confirmation on April 2, 1944 by Pastor Martin Rothe. Helen graduated from Effingham High School in 1948 and attended Summer Classes at Concordia Seminary in Chicago, IL. She taught at Trinity Lutheran School from 1948 -1950 and then on May 13, 1951, she became the bride of Otis Gene Telgmann of Strasburg, IL, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bible Grove, IL. This union was blessed with four children, Charlotte Goeckner (James), Charlene Telgmann, Donald Telgmann (Kim) and Daniel Paul Telgmann (deceased). Helen was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Strasburg, IL where she taught Sunday school and was the bell ringer. She was also a substitute teacher at St. Paul’s School. She loved activities, Ladies Aid, LWML, Braille workers and quilt making. She was the Red Cross Blood Drive Coordinator for 25 years. She loved serving the Lord and being among relatives and friends.

She is survived by her children, Charlotte Goeckner (James) Effingham, IL, Charlene Telgmann of Strasburg, IL, and Donald Telgmann (Kim) of Strasburg, IL; seven grandchildren, Andrew Goeckner (Becky), Jacob Goeckner (Maria), Joshua Goeckner, Megan Niemerg (Chad), Allison Telgmann, Jessica Telgmann and Olivia Telgmann; four great grandchildren, Sophia Niemerg, Eli Niemerg, Anna Goeckner and Walter Goeckner; sister, Anna Mae Gibson of Effingham, IL; and a host of loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Gene; son, Daniel Telgmann; six brothers, Harold, Raymond, Arnold, Reynald, Donald and Richard; and sister, Eveline Duree.
