Helen Hudson

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville, IL.
Helen was born on March 5, 1933 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Homer L. and Clara Alice Martz Renner. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1951. She was a homemaker and a crossing guard for Shelbyville Schools. Helen also worked for several local businesses including Corner Drug, Roxy Theatre, Park Laundry, Morgan House and Daily Union. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary, and a lifetime member of TOPS all of Shelbyville, IL. She married James Beverley Hudson on January 11, 1951 in Shelbyville, IL. He died on November 16, 2012.
She is survived by her son, James Hudson, Jr. of Shelbyville, IL; daughters, Julie Ferguson of Shelbyville, IL, Denise (Neil) Montgomery of Hume, IL, Cara (Mark) Montgomery of Shelbyville, IL and Linda (Gary) Banning of Shelbyville, IL; thirteen grandchildren, J. D. Hudson, Logan Hudson, Tara Hudson, Joshua (Megan) Ferguson, Dana Ferguson, Amy Roth McWilliams, Wendy Montgomery Robinson, Ryan Montgomery, Scott Henne, Jr., Kristi Montgomery Alexander, Matt Montgomery, Jennifer Banning Houck, and Eric Banning; twenty-two great grandchildren, Kacy Alday, Janessa and Kendall McKittrick, Jordan Hudson, Kylie and Ethan Ferguson, Hayley, John and Katie Clark, Rylie, Torie and Cooper Montgomery, Trenton Roth, Maggie McWilliams, Austin, Brayden, Colton and Jillian Alexander, Hannah and Lucy Montgomery, Cole Banning and Cade Houck; brother, Raymond (Sheila) Renner of Stewardson, IL; sisters, Hazel (Ralph) Riley of Cowden, IL and Eva Roberts of Shelbyville, IL; sisters-in-law, Doreen Renner of Columbus, OH and Mary Ellen Wheeler of Hilmar, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Hudson; brothers, Robert D. Renner, Homer Renner, Jr. and William D. Renner; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Renner and Nancy (Lou) Mills; and great grandson, Jack Ferguson.
