Helen R Durst

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. David Beerbower officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, 1569 County Road 3300 North, Rantoul, IL 61866.
Helen was born on July 17, 1918 at home in Shelby County, IL, the daughter of Homer and Elizabeth Workman Hunter. She married Bill Durst on January 15, 1944 in Rapid City, SD. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2008.
Helen had a passion for fishing, hunting wild mushrooms, growing and harvesting her vegetable garden, crocheting, playing cards and camping with her husband and family.
She is survived by her three children, Ann (Dan) Vaughn of Sherman, IL, Robert (Margaret) Swiney of Findlay, IL and Kay (Jim) Gibson of Shelbyville, IL; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; and four siblings, twin-brother, Robert Hunter, James Hunter, Jean Hunter and in infancy, Inos Hunter.
