Inez Compton

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Family and friends may gather at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to her family.
Inez was born on June 28, 1928 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of John Earl “Nat” and Emma Fern (Cox) Thompson. She attended Shelbyville High School and at age 50 earned her G.E.D. She married Donald D. Compton on February 24, 1955. Inez was a devoted farm wife. She also worked for Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou Inc. in Shelbyville, General Electric in Decatur and was a waitress. Inez enjoyed leading 4-H, traveling, working crossword puzzles, and making trips to Graceland in Memphis.
She is survived by her son, Bill Schwenker and wife Pat of Cowden, IL; daughters, Linda Pietrzak and husband Jeff of Mahomet, IL and Donna Martin and special friend Alan Pruemer of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Paul Franklin Thompson of Carson, CA; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Fern; husband, Don; brother, Earl Dean Thompson; one sister in infancy; and three grandchildren.
