Jack Kensil, Jr., 85, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 1:15 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 in Shelby Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Kevin Ray and Rev. Edward Kensil officiating. Visitation from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Tuesday with Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m. by Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 of Shelbyville. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to First Christian Church of Shelbyville, Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 of Shelbyville or Shelby County Honor Guard.

Jack was born on September 20, 1926 in rural Shelbyville, IL the son of John Thomas and Edith Luck Kensil. He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Jack worked for the Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville until 1970. He then worked for the Mueller Corporation in Decatur until his retirement. Jack was a member of the First Christian Church, Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 and Moose Lodge #1294 all of Shelbyville. He loved golf and fishing. He married Gladys L. Stockdale Griffith on October 3, 1958. She died on October 17, 2005.

Surviving are his step-daughters, Elaine Hagan and husband Robert and Nancy Stranc and husband George all of Shelbyville; brother, Robert Kensil and wife Martha of Shelbyville; brother-in-law, Tim Welsh of Shelbyville; sisters-in-law, Pat Kensil of Shelbyville and Konnie Kensil of Springfield; step-grandchildren, Clinton Hagan and wife Dawn, Russell Hagan and wife Pamm, Cathleen Stranc, Annalisa Peifer and husband Earl and Roger Stranc; and many step-great grandchildren, step-great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys; brothers, John “Howard” Kensil and wife Mary, Dale “Cork” Kensil and wife Pat, and Kenneth “Fuzz” Kensil; and sisters, Ruby Welsh and June Dickinson and husband Gerald.
