Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 in Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Michael Mohr officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg, IL with military rites by Strasburg American Legion Post #289, assisted by Stewardson-Strasburg Boy Scout Troop #142. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL or American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Weeden was born on November 10, 1934, in Edinburg, Illinois, the son of Lester and Anna Browning Weeden. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in the Korean War. He began working as a meat cutter and retired as a U.S.D.A. meat inspector for the State of Illinois. Jackie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL and Strasburg American Legion Post #289. He loved being a Boy Scout leader and softball coach. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting and his Westerns. He married Barbara J. Thomas on April 17, 1965.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Todd Weeden of Shelbyville, IL, Troy Weeden and wife Young of Strasburg, IL, Tim Weeden and wife Terri of Strasburg, IL and Ronald Lambert of Harristown, IL; daughters, Fawn Thomas and husband Ronald of Strasburg, IL, Ruth Froman and husband Jeff of Shelbyville, IL, Sharon Bulla and husband Jerry of Charleston, IL and Cindy Lambert of Decatur, IL; brothers, Robert “Bob” Weeden and wife Betty of Florida and Lester “Jim” Weeden of Pana, IL; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Lambert; and sister-in-law, Barb Weeden.
