Private family graveside services will be held in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with Gary Duckett officiating and military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Shelby County Honor Guard.
Jim was born on May 10, 1950 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of James Nelson and Virginia Maxine (Smith) Young. He attended Shelbyville High School and was a member of the Class of 1968. Jim was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He previously was an over the road truck driver for Swift. Jim was a member of Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 and A.B.A.T.E. both in Shelbyville. He enjoyed watching old westerns, riding his motorcycle, shooting pool and playing cards .
He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Drew) Fox of Shelbyville, IL; sons, Heath (Courtney) Young of Shelbyville, IL and Aaron (Tiara) Young of Olney, IL; sisters, Linda (Cliff) Williamson and Julie (Ralph) Bly both of Shelbyville, IL; and seven grandchildren, Braden Young, Zeke Fox, Alivia Young, Kaz Fox, Savannah Young, Roz Young and Kolsyn Young.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant sister, Debbie Young.
