James Eric “Ric” Gibson , 52, of Cowden, IL, passed away, M onda y, August 23, 2021 in his residence due to complications from COVID.

Private family graveside services will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Saving Orphaned Animals Shelby County or First Christian Church of Shelbyville, and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL, 62565.

Ric was born on July 11, 1969, in Shelbyville, IL, the son of James Robert and Sharon Kay Durst Gibson. Ric attended Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1987.  He enjoyed collecting and restoring old cars, listening to music, playing his guitar and caring for his pets. Ric was a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, IL.

He is survived by his parents, Jim and Kay Gibson of Shelbyville; brother, Jeremy Gibson and wife Tiffany of Mattoon; nephew, Liam Gibson and niece, Piper Gibson.
