James E Whitlatch

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Steve Livengood officiating. Visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be given to Gideon’s International or Tower Hill Alumni Association.
Mr. Whitlatch was born on February 19, 1956 in Decatur, IL, the son of Harold Dean and Phyllis Schoch Whitlatch. He was a graduate of Tower Hill High School in the Class of 1974 and Lake Land College. He worked for McMillen Builders in Pana and farmed near Tower Hill. He was a member of the Tower Hill United Methodist Church and Shelby County Farm Bureau. He married Christine Lyn Lilly on April 24, 1976 in Pana.
He was a dedicated son, husband, father, and brother. He loved farming, construction work, music, reading, and above all, his family. He lived his life helping and serving others, and will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
Surviving are his wife Christine; son, Troy J. Whitlatch and wife Heather of Forsyth; daughter, Jamie L. Whitlatch of Decatur; mother, Phyllis Whitlatch of Tower Hill; sister, Judy C. Wagner and husband Brock of Hope, IN; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.R. and Alice Lilly of Tower Hill.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Whitlatch on March 18, 2001.
