James R. “Hawg” Miller, 53, of Lakewood, Illinois, died at 10:18 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Greg Breeden officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Illinois Archery Shooters Association (ASA) Federation or the American Diabetes Association.

Jim was born on May 13, 1962, in Raleigh, NC, the son of Phillip Samuel and Janet Kay Beasley Miller. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1980. Jim was a journeyman bricklayer and tuck pointer. He was a 32 year member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local #8 of Champaign, IL and was most recently employed by Neiss Masonry, Inc. in Decatur, IL. He was an active member of the Illinois Archery Shooters Association (ASA) Federation and enjoyed competitive archery. Jim was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jim married Lisa A. Huff on November 25, 1997.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa; sons, Hunter T. Miller at home and James R. Geer of Shelbyville, IL; daughter, Ashley D. Miller of Tool, TX; grandson, Alexzander Miller of Tool, TX; parents, Phillip and Janet Miller of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Greg Miller and wife Linda of Shelbyville, IL; mother-in-law, Patricia Huff of Shelbyville, IL; nieces, Jennifer Crowder and husband Corey, Rachel Munsterman and Ashley Huff; nephews, Aaron Miller, Joshua Huff and Joey Huff; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Tracy Miller; grandparents, Samuel and Eileen Miller and Floyd and Jeanette Beasley; and aunt, Vickie Lynch.
