Jan Bucy

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. David McHenry officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to Cornerstone Community Fellowship in Shelbyville.

Jan was born on February 26, 1941 in Lafayette, IN, the daughter of John and Helen Martin Schweitzer. She moved to Shelbyville in 1981 and was a secretary for Culligan. She later worked for Guy’s Steak House in Shelbyville, Freda’s Restaurant in Tower Hill and Joseph’s Landing in Shelbyville. She was a member of Cornerstone Community Fellowship in Shelbyville. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was known as “Granny Jan” to her grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughters, Cathy Abernathy and husband Larry of Maysville, NC, Cristen Thompson and husband Dwight, Jill Schultz and husband Tommy and Jennifer Prosser and husband Jamey all of Shelbyville; brother, Robert Schweitzer of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Dolores Feaster of Chesterfield, MO and Marcia Murphy of Lafayette, IN; grandchildren, Kalie Myers, Hollie Schultz, Courtney Roley, Ragan Schultz, Logan Hudson, Brittany Cook-Thompson and husband Robert, Tori Cook, Jamie Stimson and husband Andy and Cari Murillo and husband Jose; great grandchildren, Jenna Stimson, Carli Stimson and Elliana Murillo; and special friend Roselyn Pennycuff of Shelbyville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Bernie Bridgman; and brother-in-law, Lew Feaster.

Jan will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
