Janet I. “Jan” Schultz, 59, of Strasburg, Illinois, died at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, October 25, 2009 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg. Memorials may be given to the St. Paul’s Cemetery Fund or Donor’s Choice.

Janet was born on May 15, 1950 near Sigel, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Imogene Rankin Bales. She graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1968. She was assistant branch manager for Shelby County State Bank in Strasburg, where she worked for over 29 years. Janet was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg and a congregational coordinator for Thrivent. She married Dean Schultz on January 17, 1970.

Surviving are her husband, Dean; son, Jeff Schultz and wife Danielle of Marshall, IL; mother, Imogene Rentfro of Stewardson, IL; brothers, James Bales and wife Melba of Sullivan, Ed Bales and wife Annabelle of Effingham, IL, Richard Bales and wife Peg of Effingham, IL and Danny Bales and wife Pam of Jackson, MS; sister, Carol Baumgarten and husband Dave of Stewardson, IL; grandchildren, Maddison and Murphy; and many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Schultz; father, Henry Bales; step-father, Tom Rentfro; sister, Patricia Lading; nieces, Brandi Wittenberg, Cindy Schlechte and Robin Brown; and nephew, Allen Bales.
