Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2020 in Strasburg United Methodist Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. David Ducommon officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2020 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, IL. Memorials may be given to the Strasburg Fire Protection District or the Strasburg United Methodist Church.
Janet was born on October 31, 1950 in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Noble Ernest and Flossie Jane Pierce Walker. She graduated from North Clay High School. Janet married Charles Wane “Charlie” Culver on November 19, 1971 in Stewardson, IL. She worked at the Strasburg Post Office as Postmaster relief and also worked in the kitchen for the Stewardson-Strasburg School District. Janet was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, embroidering, making baby blankets and sending cards and letters.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie; daughter, Ann Doedtman (David) of Effingham, IL; brothers, William “Bill” Walker (Jean) of Strasburg, IL and Jake Walker (Arilla) of Louisville, IL; half-brother, Noble Walker of Clay City, IL; sisters, Betty Belleville of Hartville, IL, Kay Taylor (Jim) of Paris, IL and Ruth Lashbrook of Haubstadt, IN; and three grandchildren, Drew, Jackson and Derek Doedtman all of Effingham, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Andrew Wane “Andy” Culver; brother, Charlie Walker; sister, Mary Britton; and brothers-in-law, Don Belleville and Larry Britton.
