Jean E Shull

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013 in the First United Methodist Church, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Dan Seibert officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30–10:15 a.m. Friday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville or Main Street School Library.
Mrs. Shull was born on October 1, 1924 in Coles County, Illinois, the daughter of James Harrison and Gertrude Phipps Dallas. She graduated from Charleston High School in the Class of 1942. Jean earned her teaching certificate from Eastern Illinois State Teacher’s College in Charleston, IL and began teaching in Villa Grove, IL. She continued her education and graduated from Eastern in 1948. She married William A. “Bill” Shull on August 8, 1948 in Farmington, IL. They moved to Shelbyville, IL in 1949, where Jean taught at Main Street School for three years. After taking time off to raise her family, Jean returned to teaching in 1959 and taught mainly second and third grade in Shelbyville until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Shelbyville, IL, where she was active in United Methodist Women of the church.
She is survived by her sons, William Stanley Shull and wife Grace of Minier, IL, Robert Brent Shull and wife Jane of Shelbyville, IL and John Allen Shull and wife Jill of Mattoon, IL; daughters, Alice Jean McDonald and husband David of Tower Hill, IL and Joyce Ann Hendricks and husband Larry of Broomfield, CO; grandchildren, Lei Ann Dedic and husband David, Megan Catlin and husband Vance, Ben McDonald, Melanie Rhoades and husband Shawn, Stuart Dill, Jessica Shull, Jennifer Shull, Jeanna Shull, Sarah Shull, Erin Shull and Amanda Nicodemus; and great grandchildren, Blake Reid, Aiden Nicodemus, Callie Nicodemus, Logan Rhoades, Broderick “Brody” Rhoades, Drew Dedic, Lilly Dedic, Laina Dedic, Caliana Catlin and Cameron Catlin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill on November 6, 2008; and brother, Ralph Dallas.
