Jeanne Shumard

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Brother Wayne Polk officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, IL. Memorials may be given to the South Second Street Church of Christ or Saving Orphaned Animals both in Shelbyville, IL.
Jeanne was born on January 30, 1923 in Charleston, IL the daughter of Fred and Maude (Schuyler) Smith. She graduated from Stewardson High School in the Class of 1941. Jeanne was a cook for Stewardson-Strasburg High School for over 20 years. She was a member of the South Second Street Church of Christ in Shelbyville, IL, Stewardson Day Unit of Home Bureau and Stewardson Auxiliary Unit. Jeanne was an election judge for many years in Clarksburg, IL. She married William Earl Shumard on December 24, 1942. He died on November 27, 2008.
She is survived by her five sons, Larry Shumard and friend Charlotte of Charleston, IL, Darrell Shumard of Stewardson, IL, Roger Shumard and wife Robin of Stewardson, IL, Rich Shumard and wife Joy of Mode, IL and Scott Shumard of Neoga, IL; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, George Stanley; husband, Earl; daughter-in-law, Diane Shumard; and six siblings, Frank Smith, Lola Matheny, Lelia Kruger, Mamie Smith, Max Smith and Don Smith.
