Jeannie E. Distefano

(January 29, 1954 – April 13, 2023)

Jeannie E. Pryer-Bly-Distefano, 69, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023 in OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana, IL.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2023 at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Burial will be at a later date in Howe Cemetery, near Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to D.O.V.E. Inc. – Shelby County.

Jeannie was born on January 29, 1954 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Raymond E. “Gene” and Maggie (Mounds) Pryer.  She worked at Walmart in Texas for several years.  When she moved back to Shelbyville, Jeannie worked for Merle Norman Cosmetics and served on the D.O.V.E. Board in Shelby County. Jeannie was the best mother in the world!

Jeannie is survived by her husband, Mark Distefano of Groves, TX; daughters, Marcy Bly-Moore of Eunice, LA, Brighty Bly of Shelbyville, IL, and Briann Bly of Groves, TX; brother, Chris Pryer (Lisa) of Shelbyville, IL; “sister from another mother,” Julie Bly (Ralph) of Shelbyville, IL; seven grandchildren, Nicole Bly, Jacy Moore, Cassie Malveaux, Blake Moore, Zachery Rasa, Zane Rasa, and Zoey Bly; 25 great grandchildren with one on the way; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Doug Doss and Perk Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Pryer; mother, Maggie Halison; step-mother, Geneva Pryer; and friend, Jim “Papa Onion” Young.
