Jerry D Longwell

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Jake was born on December 26, 1949 in Olney, IL the son of Mervin E. and Hattie Pauline (Stockstill) Longwell. He began working for Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville, IL. He later worked for Pillsbury in LeRoy, IL and then was a logger with his brother Ernie in Montgomery County. He retired as a press operator for Highland Supply in Highland, IL. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, tinkering with cars and being with his family.
He is survived by his sons, William Michael “Mike” Longwell of Bush, IL and Jerry Lee Scott “Sam” Longwell (Susan) of Hillsboro, IL; daughter, Carolyn Jarman of Union, MO; brother, Ernie Longwell of Pleasant Mound, IL; sister, Dorothy Lawson (Roy) of Litchfield, IL; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Charles, Richard, Bob and Bill Longwell.
