Jerry Wayne Myers, 83, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Pana, IL, passed away at 7:21 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Dave Altman and Rev. Linda Trent officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. before the funeral. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Harbor Light Hospice.

Jerry was born on September 24, 1934 in Washington, IN the son of Florian D. and Dorothy (Jones) Myers. Jerry married Barbara Hart on December 25, 1950 in Washington, IN. They moved to Illinois in 1962 when Jerry took the job of cattle herdsman and farmed for R.B. Siegert in Pana, IL. Jerry later managed the Wayne’s Feed Store in Pana, IL and worked on Guy Parr’s farm near Rosamond, IL. Jerry then became a linesman for Shelby Electric Co-op in Shelbyville, IL, where he worked until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the Fourth Street Methodist Church in Shelbyville, IL. Jerry enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of Indiana Hoosier Basketball and the Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Shelbyville, IL; son, Ron Myers and wife Pam of Nokomis, IL; daughters, Janice Punches of Clifton, VA, Jeannette Newberry and husband Paul of Shelbyville, IL, Wanda Koons and husband Brad of Tower Hill, IL, and Debbie Myers of Shelbyville, IL; sisters; Jane Allen of Atlanta, GA, and Betty Lee and Diana Carson both of Greensburg, IN; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Florian and Dorothy; son-in-law, Capt. Jack Punches; two brothers, Jim and Jack Myers; and two sisters, Joyce Myers and Judy Sanders.
