Judith Joanne Apple , 81, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 2:10 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2023 in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on September 23, 2023 at the First Assembly of God in Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Family Life Center in Shelbyville, IL.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Joanne was born on November 26, 1941 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Hubert Lewis and Martha Pauline (Bork) Cook. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1959 and also from Laura Halford School of Beauty in Decatur.   Joanne married Donald Merle “Don” Apple on June 4, 1961. She owned and operated Joanne’s Pedicures in Shelbyville for 26 years.  Joanne was a member of the First Assembly of God in Shelbyville.  She was an avid seamstress and also enjoyed riding her three-wheeled bicycle.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Don; sons, Doug Apple and wife Michele of Tallahassee, FL, and Tim Apple and wife Robin of Shelbyville, IL; daughters, Julie Thorpe and husband Jeff of Tucson, AZ; Jennifer Spracklen and husband Jeff of Mattoon, IL and Laura Owens of Herrick, IL; sisters, Alice Ferguson of Eaton, OH, and Marty Dahlquist and husband Craig of Springfield, IL; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David Cook in 1966 and Lewis Cook (Judy); and brother-in-law, Dr. Harold Ferguson, Sr.
