John C. Swaar

John Clark Swaar , 61, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away on September 16, 2023 at his home, Fogal House, in Shelbyville, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.  Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023 in Mason City Cemetery, Mason City, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Special Olympics or Shelby County Community Services.

John was born on July 31, 1962 in Springfield, IL, the son of Mac and Elsie (Montgomery) Swaar. John was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was a happy person and loved to tease his siblings and friends

He is survived by his sister, Anna Marie (Darrel) Behrends; brother, Robert (Sarah Jane) Swaar; sister-in- law, Kathy Swaar; nieces, Martha (Mark) Konzelman, Maxine LaCroix and Lisa Steffens; nephews, Warren Swaar and Matt (Deborah) Swaar; and several great nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Bill Swaar; nephew, Jim (Leonda Markee) Behrends; grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
