John L Gerhold
(February 12, 1927 – May 11, 2013)
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Dollville, IL with Rev. Neil Kaiser officiating. A family visitation will be held prior to services in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Cemetery Fund.
Mr. Gerhold was born on February 12, 1927 in Rural Township of Shelby County, IL, the son of Mathias Frederick and Anna Barentz Gerhold. John farmed north of Tower Hill and worked for G. W. Prosser Company in Shelbyville, IL. He also served as Tower Hill Township Road Commissioner for many years. John was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Dollville, IL. He married Juanita Evelyn McDonald on August 2, 1947. She died on July 17, 2008.
He is survived by his sons, John Allen (Ann) Gerhold of Decatur, IL and Robert Dean (Cheryl) Gerhold of Moweaqua, IL; grandchildren, John (Kathy) Gerhold of Assumption, IL, Dana (Matt) Thomann of Mackinaw, IL, Megan (Bill) Reininger of St. Louis, MO and Laura Gerhold of Savoy, IL; and great grandchildren, Audrey & Lane Thomann, Drew Gerhold, Peyton Lees and Allie & Will Reininger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita; two brothers, Walt and Karl Gerhold; and one sister, Esther Dial.
