Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2020 in Glenwood Cemetery (Section D) Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Shelby County Senior Center or The Alzheimer’s Association and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
John was born on July 1, 1932, in Shelbyville, IL, the son of James and Ruth Merry Donald. John began working as the manager for the Westervelt Grain Elevator and then worked for Wagner Redi-Mix in Shelbyville, IL. John later owned and operated his own construction company in Shelbyville, IL. He retired from Shelby County Community Services, where he worked in manufacturing. John was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge both in Shelbyville. He enjoyed bowling, woodworking, collecting antiques and going for coffee with Delbert. He married Judith Kay “Judy” Warner on July 28, 1979, and she preceded him in death on August 7, 2013.
John is survived by his children, Danny Donald of Shelbyville, IL, Sandra Schniederjan of Macon, IL, Kelly Dodson (Mark) of Pana, IL, Lori Moreman (Mike) of Shelbyville, IL; and Jason Mars (Christy) of Springfield, MO; sister, Emily Wakeland of Shelbyville, IL; sister-in-law, Julie Warner (John) of Shelbyville, IL; father-in-law, Delbert Trimble of Shelbyville, IL; 16 grandchildren, Jaycie Shugart (Christopher), Holly Henderson (David), Daniel Reynolds, Marissa Sims (Tyler), Taylor Dodson, Tonya Wieneke (Mark), Travis Ulmer (Brooke), Cade Saddoris, Tammy Springer, Denver Donald, Clayton Donald, Emily Foster, McKenna Donald, Karac Donald, Rheannah Donald and Jarrett Mars; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; mother-in-law, Irma Trimble; son-in-law, David Schniederjan; daughter-in-law Rachel “Beth” Donald; and brothers, David Donald and James Donald Jr.; and sister, Ruth Knudsen.
