John M Merriman

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg with Rev. Steven Becker officaiting. Visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday in the church. Flag presentation will be by Strasburg American Legion Post #289. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Strasburg, IL is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to Lincolnland Hospice.
John was born on November 25, 1956 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Robert C. and Elaine “Booby” Ulmer Merriman. He was a graduate of Stewardson-Strasburg High School. John worked for Quality Pallets in Windsor, IL. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg. He married Judy Stilabower on May 19, 2001.
Surviving are his wife, Judy; step-son, Timothy Allen, Jr. and wife Shelly of Sullivan, IL; step-daughter, Angela Leister and husband Brad of Noble, IL; step-mother, Margaret Merriman of Mattoon, IL; brother, James P. “Jim” Merriman and wife Muriel of Stewardson, IL; step-granddaughters, Kristen Allen of Westfield, IL and Halen Leister of Ft. Worth, TX; two nephews, Patrick and Christian Merriman; and niece, Allison Vonderheide.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, Gilbert and Alice Ulmer and Arthur and Ruby Merriman.
