Born August 18, 1953, in Shelbyville, Illinois, she was the second child of Edward and Bertha Miller. In addition to gardening, Joyce liked reading, having long talks with her friends and family, collecting antiques, playing with her grandchildren and traveling with her husband. She visited almost all of the 50 states (including Hawaii), as well as, Mexico, Canada, Scotland, England, Germany, Italy and Greece. Rome and Athens were her two favorite cities. She loved life and lived it to the fullest.
