Joyce J Camfield

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in the First Christian Church of Mattoon, IL with Revs. Steve Hayes, Robert Clark and Richard Eident officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 in the church. Burial will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon, IL. Memorials may be given to the Mattoon Food Bank or the Salvation Army. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL.
Joyce was born on March 26, 1938 in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of Emmett Nethal and Agnes Corrine (VanGundy) Young. She graduated from Mattoon High School in the Class of 1956 and earned her associate degree from Lake Land College. Joyce was a retired secretary and she loved volunteering her time at the Mattoon Police Station, Mattoon Food Bank, Peace Meals and Project Pal Literacy Program. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Mattoon and IOOF Lodge #260 in Mattoon, where she served as secretary. Joyce was a talented artist, who enjoyed drawing, decorating cakes and crocheting. She cherished spending time with her family and caring for her pets. She married Russell Leon Camfield on February 14, 1956 in Mattoon, IL and they had four children, Jacqueline, Russell, Jr., Dennis and Carla.
She is survived by her husband, Russell; children, Jacque Herring and husband Randy of Neoga, IL, Russell “Bub” Camfield, Jr. and wife Barbara of Columbus, OH and Dennis Camfield and wife Cheryl of Mattoon, IL; nine grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Carla Mefford; brothers, Robert Young, Emmett “Buddy” Young, Jr. and Roger Young; and sister, Edna Tinsman.
