Juanita Wakeman , 96, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 in HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital, Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Bob Turner officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL.  Memorials may be given to Shelby County Community Services.

Juanita was born on May 19, 1925 in Coal City, IL.  She came to Shelbyville in 1974 and was employed by Shelby County Community Services in the DT Program.  Juanita enjoyed her work, especially assembling inserts for the newspaper.  She participated in the Special Olympics and was an avid bowler.  Juanita was affiliated with the First Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her “family” at Shelby County  Community Services and Shelbyville Manor; and by her longtime “guardian”, Junior Evans of Shelbyville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
